Happy Father's Day from Prague!!!

Happy Father's Day from Prague!!!

(That's just from google translate, I didn't get any Czech people to translate unfortunately)

Can you believe it's been over a year since the first piggie post? And why haven't they posted since March? That's just madness....

They are leaving Prague on Wednesday so there will be many new piggie posts to come.

The piggies have some guests this week who also want to wish someone a Happy Father's Day (both Mr. Bellinger and Mr. McArtor)

Three Little Piggies Hostel, Berlin Germany

The three piggies arrived to Berlin on Friday, March 29th at night.

They put their bags down but almost immediately met some German guys so they went out with them to a place called, "Suicide Club." Yeah....it was a good time though. Not nearly as traumatic as it sounds. Just a converted warehouse.

The next day they ventured out to find the Pergamon Museum, a museum they've been wanting to visit for about 3 years now, ever since they decided to study Ancient near Eastern archaeology their sophomore year of college. This museum has everything. But on the way they saw this very interesting "Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe."

The next morning, Easter Sunday, they went on a free tour of Berlin in the snow. They saw a lot of historic communist and nazi highlights:

On their final day they checked out the 1936 Olympic stadium where Hitler tried to be racist against Jesse Owens and he ended up stomping all over the idea of any sort of racial superiority of Aryans by winning like 4 gold medals for the US.

Kutna Hora

Earlier this month the piggies decided it was finally time to go to Kutna Hora.

It was finally time to see...

The Sedlec Ossuary, aka, "the bone church"

Why is it called the bone church?

Well, because its decorated with hundreds of human remains of course!

Basically the graveyard got full and the church didn't know what to do....they also wanted to redecorate so they decided to kill two birds with one stone....

Happy Birthday!

overcast

The Piggie's great-grandfather turned 87 yesterday! They just want to wish him a happy birthday from Prague!!!

They were sad they couldn't go out to dinner or celebrate with cake and ice cream, so the piggies had their own cake to celebrate:

Marlenka

Marlenka

This is Marlenka, a special Czech cake made in Moravia.

Honey cake

Honey cake

It's a bit different from what they are used to in the States. It's a layered cake with a chocolate and honey flavor. Very tasty! If it looks familiar it's because they also sell it in Budapest. Not sure if anyone tried it there back in 2010 or not.

And, another small surprise, it seems the piggies have had...piglets!

Renata, Justin's Czech colleague, thought maybe the piggies needed some company. However, Justin, jealous of the piggies, decided to take the piglets for himself. He was also jealous of their trip to Portugal so he took his own trip to Vienna...

Belém

A day trip to Belém to discover a different kind of Pastéis

Belém

Belém

About 20 minutes on the tram took this piggie-less traveler to Belém, a small town (technically a civil parish) famous for their Pastéis de Belém. And this cool tower.

The Torre de Belém was commissioned by King John II and built in the 16th century as a defense system and also a symbol of Portuguese domination of the waters.
